A Lover like no other, that is who You are my Lord,
When I remember the cross and Your death on the cross, the blood that You shed,
The nails, driven into your hands and feet,
The crown of thorns and the eternal scar you bore on your riven side.
You asked for water in your thirst, and they gave you vinegar and for crown You were given a woven thorn,
And all these because of me
A Lover like no other You are.
You laid aside the inestimable treasures of riches, power, glory and majesty
You sought me with no iota of distraction
With no hint of regret, Your eyes set like a flint which death and shame could not deter, reaching to a lowly estate like me, God became man, eternal word that created all things became flesh, immorality became mortal that mortality might be swallowed up. Angels were confounded at this magnificence as You lay all else aside and sought for me,
A Lover like no other.
In the valley of my depravity and the mountain of my folly,
Your voice rang out seeking after me
The light of Your love beams through my darkness,
In the depth of darkness, darkness of my burdened soul, burdened with sin and death,
Your outstretched hand reached me,
And drew me out of my sunken depth,
Your back you offered for chastisement for my peace, and to unburden my soul from death and torment of the wicked, You received strips not a few. All these for love for me,
My Lord, my Saviour, You are a Lover like no other.
O that I may have such a heart as One who loved me,
To lay aside every vile, every folly for the rich treasure of His love,
That I may have such eyes like His,
To seek for Him with an undivided heart,
O that I may have a depth of gratitude, washing His burnished feet with my tears,
And bellow the cry of my heart for all eternity,
Lord You are a Lover like no other.
