Gen 1: 2
“The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”

In this passage is a great pattern that is a lesson for us. First the passage declared what God sees: The earth was without form and void…The LORD God, El Roi (God that Sees) saw and the Holy Spirit that searches the deep things of God moved in. The Holy Spirit hovered over the face of the waters. Who knows a man except the spirit that is in a man, so also the Holy Spirit knows the mind of God for He searches the deep things of God; deep only calls to the deep.

As Moses stood before God and intercedes for the nation of Israel, as Abraham stood before God and intercedes for Sodom for the sake of his nephew, Lot, so also the Holy Spirit who knows the mind of God moves to establish the will of God for the righteous of the LORD. The Holy Spirit is our great intercessor. Romans 8 verse 27 declares: “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

Until the Spirit of the LORD hovered over the face of the waters, the command for things to be never came. So the Holy Spirit was key in creation, He is always key in everything pertaining to the will of God and to man whom God created in His image and likeness. In the birth of Christ, the Holy Spirit, who is the power of God, overshadowed Mary, and a holy seed was implanted in her (Luke 1: 35). At the resurrection of Christ, the Holy Spirit was the quickening power that brought about the resurrection of our Lord Christ (Ephesians 1: 19-20). The Holy Spirit is the shadow of the Almighty that brings about the will of God. In the book of Ephesians chapter 1 verse 14, Apostle Paul, by revelation, calls the LORD Holy Spirit, the earnest of our inheritance who have believed and received Christ Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Our Lord Jesus, after that the revelation of who He is that came through Peter in the gospel of Mathew chapter 16 verse 19 declares: ” And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The Holy Spirit is our key, one of the keys of the kingdom that every believer has. Following from the pattern of creation, the Spirit hovered, and God commanded. We see this pattern in the book of Ezekiel, chapter 37, from verses 1 to 10. The Spirit of the LORD, who knows the mind of God, asked the prophet in verse 3: ” Son of man, can these bones live.” Then the Spirit of the LORD moved upon the prophet and asked him to prophesy upon the bones. So also we having the keys of the kingdom, the Holy Spirit, who is the earnest, the gurantee of our inheritance, when we yield to Him who searches our hearts and know the mind of God, and we rehearse our need in God’s hear in prayers or our thoughts, by the Holy Spirit, He will move upon us to decree a thing and it shall be established, we will bind and it stays bound, we will loose on earth and it will be loosed in heaven as He leads. For He is the power of God that get things accomplished. Nothing gets done without the Holy Spirit, He is the effectual working power of God in us that brings to bear the exceeding, abundantly ability of God in what we ask or think.
In the epistle of John, 1 John chapter 5 verse 8, we read: “And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.” The Holy Spirit, (the Spirit of Truth that bears witness) and our Lord Jesus “who is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood.” (IJohn 5:6) are the keys to the kingdom that have been given us.

In addition to being our intercessor, the Holy Spirit is also our Helper. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever.” (John 14: 16). So when we pass through the valley of the shadow of death, the Holy Spirit is He whom we need. He is our strength (rod) and comfort (staff). When we defer to Him, allow Him to hover over the darkness in our lives and help us in prayer, because He is our Helper and knows the mind of God in every situations, He gives us word to declare. When we declare in faith, light arises for the righteous of the LORD. The righteous of the LORD oftentimes lingers in things that defies them because we do not fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we do not acknowledge and use the keys of the kingdom given us, we do not lean on Him who is our Strength and Comfort and we do not declare words of faith that comes by Him to dispels darkness.

Until the consummation of our ultimate redemption, when we shall, in an instance, get caught up to meet with our Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit is a guarantee of all that is ours that we should not be denied anything. The Holy Spirit is the guarantee for our good (Psalm119: 122). It is time we know Him and fellowship with Him as we ought for our good. Just like a mother is to the foetus in the womb, so is the Holy Spirit to us. We must remain in the womb of the Holy Spirit and be vitally joined to Him by the umbilical cord of faith in Christ. The propitiatory and redemptive work of our Lord Jesus, depicted in the water and the blood by Christ, provided us that vital link. As long as the foetus is joined by the umbilical cord to the mother, he has all the nutrients from the mother. So also must the righteous of the LORD be vitally joined to the Holy Spirit to enjoy the power of the kingdom, the righteousness of the kingdom, the peace of the kingdom and the joy in the Holy Ghost. It is righteousness of God that the children should be partakers of all the spiritual blessings in Christ.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive. That is why He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement (John 16: 8-9). But the righteous of the LORD knows and have the Truth. They should live by the Truth and continue in it in order to have fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Psalm 1 verses 1 and 2 clearly spell it out. “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
We must separate ourselves from the world, no more should the social media be our counsellor but the Holy Spirit and the word of God. We delight in the word of God and meditate in it day and night. We must submit to the Truth and live by the Truth in order to have fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Daily, we must give our hearts to the LORD (Proverbs 23: 26) so we can be under the influence of the Spirit of the LORD, and we consciously declare our delight in His way. We must also be like sheep in His hand, who is our Strength and Comfort.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Grace. We must be gracious and filled with the fruit of the Spirit in order to have fellowship with Him. No more can we be self-centered, narcissistic, and finding our own pleasures and expect to have fellowship with Him. We must have the mind of Christ in every situation. Our Lord Jesus once told His disciples in John chapter, “You do not know what manner of Spirit you are made of” (Luke 9: 55). We don’t have the Spirit to do as we please. It is to have the will of God done on earth.

The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inner depths of his heart. (Proverbs 20:27). Likewise, the Spirit of the LORD searches the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10). Now, we know the spirit of a man is of God according to scripture in 1 Corinthians 2:12: “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” So our spirit, which is of God, has to connect with the Spirit of God, who knows the thoughts of God for our lives. When deep calls to the deep in prayer, and we live by the Truth. When we align with the Holy Spirit, we receive what God speaks to our situation, and light arises for us in our dark moments. We are children of light, and we are meant to dwell in His marvellous light at all times by the Holy Spirit. The mighty Holy Spirit is our Helper, the key of the kingdom, and the enormous power therein. He is the shadow of the Almighty, He is the power of the Highest. He was there from the beginning when the decree “let us make man in our image and in our likeness” was made and, by Him we know the things that have been freely given to us at every situation and He will close the age for the righteous.
