My soul magnify the Lord, my spirit also rejoice in His salvation (Luke 1: 46-47).
In remembrance of His mercy, God gave man His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will obtain mercy and eternal salvation in Christ. Not every soul captures this, for the Prince of this world had darkened the minds (Ephesians 4:18) of men that they should not know the truth. A darkened soul is a deceitful soul. Until our hearts holds up the truth that the wages of sin is death; and that every man is adjudged dead before God, the import of God’s great works of salvation will mean nothing. For rather than input our sin to us which, comes natural by our fallen nature, God inputs to us the righteousness that is His alone through His Son, our Lord Jesus, whom He made a propitiation for our sins.
The Lord remembered His mercy and brought man salvation, and in His salvation we obtain more mercy. It is an endless stream of goodness, out of the abundance of His household (Psalm 36: 8) for our God is eternally good, and His mercy endures forever. Our souls should magnify and bless the Lord for His great mercy, which has brought our salvation. The Magnificat of Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ in Luke chapter one and the Psalms of king David in Psalm 103 verse 1 and 2 comes to mind. A lot went into our salvation (Ephesians 1: 5-8) namely, prudence, wisdom, lavish grace, timing, faith, death and resurrection of Christ among others. Mercy was the floodgate to the Grace that brought us salvation. Our souls should forever be in praise of the annunciation of this Grace, for without it man’s doom would have been eternal.
Truly the Grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. There is no exception and because there is no exception there is no excuse for any man. Our Lord Jesus is that Grace and O, what salvation we have of Him. God is eternal and our continuance with Him is eternal . For this reason, anyone that thinks only of our earthly existence is short-sighted. Here is only temporary, but there is the eternal that lies ahead of every man. Salvation is to secure man’s eternity. As it is, the end is secured for the seed is safe. Jesus Christ is that Seed. The Seed of our salvation is safe, seated at God’s own right hand, therefore our end, the eternity is secured.
The scripture says that God has put eternity in every man’s heart (Ecclesiastes 3: 11). We were created for eternity, for He who has formed and created man is eternal, El Olam, the Eternal God. In His mercy He wants to secure our end, that is our eternity, hence He brought us this great salvation in Christ. Salvation has eternal consequences for those who are within and for those who are without, the choice is man’s. How shall we escape the consequences if we neglect so great a salvation (Hebrews 2: 3-4).
If our souls and all that is within us is to chant this Magnificat, the praises of God, it shows the all importance of this salvation and the awesomeness of the God of our salvation. In addition to this captivating praises of our souls to God, our all should also respond to who God is. God loves righteousness and hates wickedness and iniquity (Psalm 45:7), therefore we should abstain from it. Grace not only brought us salvation (Titus 2: 11-14), Grace also came to teach and to show us the way. We are to shun every ungodliness and every worldly lust: the lust of the eyes (in all of its ramifications) the lust of the flesh (in all of its ramifications) and the pride of life (in all of its ramifications). This is the way of Grace, for Grace is not licentious to sin as most have taken Grace to be, but rather Grace has come to teach and help us to be and to live holy and walk uprightly. The songs of the redeemed is not complete without this lifestyle.
As we imbibe the tenets of our salvation, more grace, more mercy is given to aid our growth into the image and likeness of our God who lives forever and who we all, will have to relate with for all eternity. It is better for us to remain on the side where the Magnificat resounds from our lips to the God of our salvation. The price for our eternal soul is great, nothing in this short life on earth is worth its compromise. The gift of God, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, shows our true worth, and it is only by honest hearts that we can believe for the salvation of our souls. Mental accent will not do, for even demons believe, and they tremble (James 2: 19). We must confess His death and His resurrection and accept Him as our Lord and Saviour and make a decision to obey Him. This is the safety catch for our salvation.
